Job Title: GIS Application Developer
(ArcObjects)
Job Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Hours / Week: 40 / week
Job Description: Responsible
for the development, implementation, and integration of custom
and COTS applications using ESRI’s ArcGIS software. Responsibilities
include building custom applications with ArcObjects to extend
the functionality of ESRI’s ArcGIS products. Most client
applications are developed within the Microsoft .NET framework;
however, knowledge of open source or Java technologies a plus.
May also contribute to geodatabase design, data manipulation, and
GIS analysis work. Must have a working knowledge of relational
databases, client-server and enterprise multi-tier architecture
concepts; assist in development of proposals and be familiar with
technical issues in the field of GIS. Proficiency in ESRI software
and development techniques with emphasis on ArcIMS, ArcGIS, and
ArcObjects.
Must have comprehensive understanding of current
GIS and IT technologies and comprehensive understanding in latest
programming languages and software engineering methodologies. GIS
experience, including ArcGIS, MapObjects, Geodatabase and other
ESRI GIS tools. Proficiency in Visual Basic, Microsoft .NET framework,
C/C++, C# scripting language. Java and open source technologies
that interface with ArcObjects a plus. Demonstrated GIS application
functional requirements definition experience using UML or other
software development lifecycle methods. Full life cycle experience
in a project(s) that required the use of the above tools. Demonstrated
experience interfacing custom ArcGIS applications with relational
databases including Oracle, SQL Server, Access, etc. Ability to
communicate with both IT and domain specific experts. Demonstrated
ability to quickly master new computer applications and languages.
Specific knowledge of the pipeline industry, natural resource management,
or the defense sector’s GIS requirements a plus.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication,
technical and organizational skills. Travel is required. U.S. citizenship
required. Security clearance is desirable.
Minimum Education: B.S. degree
Major Field of Study: Science,
engineering, or relevant field
Experience: 2-3 years of applications
development experience; or any combination of education and experience
which the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform
the job.
