Photo Science Purchases Second Z/I Imaging Digital Mapping Camera

LEXINGTON, KY – June 21, 2006 – Photo Science has taken delivery of a second Z/I Imaging Digital Mapping Camera (DMC) as part of its continued migration strategy to an “all-digital” acquisition fleet. As early adopters of digital sensor technologies, Photo Science has been providing these services since 2003. As part of this strategy, Photo Science continues to invest in image processing infrastructure to best deliver geospatial solutions to its client base. This capability truly enables a fully-digital workflow process throughout the project lifecycle from mission planning; integrated flight navigation; simultaneous (panchromatic, color and color infrared) digital image acquisition; softcopy analytical aerotriangulation; feature extraction to GIS database delivery.

Photo Science operates eight aircraft, three of which are configured to support the DMC large-format sensor, including two turbine aircraft. Of the remaining aircraft, one is presently equipped with a medium-format Applanix DSS-322 digital camera, while two others are dedicated to LiDAR acquisition. Additionally, Photo Science continues to gain post-processing efficiencies through the company’s image research and development activities. One recent example is the design and integration of the firm’s image post-processing solution that delivers a 10x performance level over present manufacturer solutions. Innovations such as these have dramatically decreased production turn-around times while increasing productivity. Continued investment in the firm’s infrastructure has yielded benefits related to image acquisition processing; sensor-to-base station data downloading; and image quality control.
